Therapy should never feel like a waste of time. And unfortunately, that happens all too often. People spend months or years thinking about reaching out before they actually do it. And once they’re sitting in front of someone, it’s not always clear this person is able to help them. Believe me, I’ve been there.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity questions, relationship struggles, self-worth issues, anger, burnout, and life transitions. In other words, the general pressure of trying to hold everything together while still functioning day to day.
Before becoming a counselor, I spent nearly two decades in the automotive industry, running a large used tire and automotive shop. I came into the counseling field in my 40s, and that background continues to shape the way I work with people. My path into counseling was driven by a desire to better understand people, relationships, and the ways we adapt to survive difficult experiences.
My approach is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I focus on helping clients develop self-awareness, emotional flexibility, healthier coping patterns, and a stronger connection to the values and relationships that matter most to them.
Outside of counseling, I spend my time weightlifting, backpacking, performing in community theatre, gardening, and seeking out local musicians. I can usually identify all the trees you pass during a walk, and I’m always trying to see how aggressively I can corner on my e-scooter without wiping out.
Finding the right counselor matters. Good therapy should feel honest, useful, and human. If you’d like to see whether we’d be a good fit, I’m happy to schedule a no-fee consultation.
